On Saturday March 23, 450 Catholic youth and their 84 sponsors gathered at Sacred Heart Jr/Sr. for the Annual Diocesan Youth Convention. Youth attending from Ellis were Cheyenne Born, Maggie James, Star Dinkel, Meghan Zweifel, and Maci Kohl, adults attending were Karla Schuster, Heather & Curtis Billups, Margie Michelson, and Marnie Kohl. While attending the convention, we were all inspired by keynote speakers, including Paul Kim who is one of the most sought-after Catholic youth speakers in America. Paul is a dynamic speaker and musician with a powerful message of faith, hope and love. The other keynote speaker was Sara Swafford. Sarah is the founder of Emotional Virtue Ministries. She speaks internationally on a variety of topics such as: Emotional Virtue, Dating and Relationships, Modesty of Intentions and Interior Confidence. Sarah has been given the chance to look deeper into the struggles facing teens and young adults in today society. The convention ended on Sunday with everyone attending Mass with Bishop Vincke. All that attended had a good time and felt they learned a lot and plan to attend again next year.
